A strong partnership.
The Ministry of Transport (VM) of Baden-Württemberg is the sponsor of the Test Field Autonomous Driving. The leading state authority provided 2.5 million euros for conception, planning and construction. "I am eager to see what will be challenged on the test field and what findings we will gain. I am interested in the traffic and ecological effects," says Minister Winfried Hermann (photo), who heads the department.
Likewise, the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts (MWK) is a sponsor. Together with the VM, it provides a further 2.5 million euros for research on the test field. The smart mobility funding program is intended to provide insights into the traffic effects of autonomous driving. Particularly with regard to safety, road capacity, costs for public authorities, traffic jam avoidance, environmental effects and road law issues.
